Miniature in the park
  • ORP Orzeł

ORP Orzeł (Eagle) is one of the most famous Polish submarines. During the Second World War it was involved in the defense of the Polish coast before being interned in Tallinn, Estonia. There it was partly disarmed and stripped of its navigation devices. Despite the internment the crew followed the initiative of the officer Andrzej Piasecki and fled towards the UK. This was only possible because the officers knew the light codes of the lighthouses of the Baltic Sea coast and thus arrived in the UK. During a patrol in 1940 the submarine and the complete team went missing. The submarine was almost 84 meters long, 6.7 meters wide and equipped with a 60 man crew.

This miniature was built by 4 artists in 6 months.
